                     بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. لَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِيَوۡمِ الۡقِيٰمَةِۙ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day.   وَلَاۤ اُقۡسِمُ بِالنَّفۡسِ اللَّوَّامَةِؕ‏ And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil).  اَيَحۡسَبُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ اَلَّنۡ نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهٗؕ‏ Does man think that We cannot assemble his bones?  بَلٰى قٰدِرِيۡنَ عَلٰٓى اَنۡ نُّسَوِّىَ بَنَانَهٗ‏ Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.   بَلۡ يُرِيۡدُ الۡاِنۡسَانُ لِيَفۡجُرَ اَمَامَهٗ‌ۚ‏ But man wishes to do wrong (even) in the time in front of him.   يَسۡـَٔـلُ اَيَّانَ يَوۡمُ الۡقِيٰمَةِؕ‏  He questions: "When is the Day of Resurrection?"   فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الۡبَصَرُۙ‏  At length, when the sight is dazed. وَخَسَفَ الۡقَمَرُۙ‏ And the moon is buried in darkness. وَجُمِعَ الشَّمۡسُ وَالۡقَمَرُۙ‏ ...

                  بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. هَلۡ اَتٰى عَلَى الۡاِنۡسَانِ حِيۡنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهۡرِ لَمۡ يَكُنۡ شَيۡـٴً۬ـا مَّذۡكُوۡرًا‏  Has there not been over Man a long period of Time, when he was nothing - (not even) mentioned?  اِنَّا خَلَقۡنَا الۡاِنۡسَانَ مِنۡ نُّطۡفَةٍ اَمۡشَاجٍۖ نَّبۡتَلِيۡهِ فَجَعَلۡنٰهُ سَمِيۡعًۢا بَصِيۡرًا‏  Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight.  اِنَّا هَدَيۡنٰهُ السَّبِيۡلَ اِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَّاِمَّا كَفُوۡرًا‏  We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). اِنَّاۤ اَعۡتَدۡنَا لِلۡكٰفِرِيۡنَ سَلٰسِلَا۟ وَاَغۡلٰلًا وَّسَعِيۡرًا For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire.   اِنَّ الۡاَبۡرَارَ يَشۡرَبُوۡنَ مِنۡ كَاۡسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوۡرًا‌ۚ‏  As to the Righteous, they sha...

                    بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. وَالۡمُرۡسَلٰتِ عُرۡفًا ۙ‏  By the (Winds) sent forth one after another (to man's profit).   فَالۡعٰصِفٰتِ عَصۡفًا Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts.  وَّالنّٰشِرٰتِ نَشۡرًا ۙ‏ And scatter (things) far and wide. فَالۡفٰرِقٰتِ فَرۡقًا Then separate them, one from another. فَالۡمُلۡقِيٰتِ ذِكۡرًا Then spread abroad a Message. عُذۡرًا اَوۡ نُذۡرًا ۙ‏  Whether of Justification or of Warning.  اِنَّمَا تُوۡعَدُوۡنَ لَوَاقِعٌ ؕ‏  Assuredly, what ye are promised must come to pass. فَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ طُمِسَتۡۙ Then when the stars become dim.   وَ اِذَا السَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتۡۙ When the heaven is cleft asunder.  وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ نُسِفَتۡۙ When the mountains are scattered (to the winds) as dust. وَاِذَا الرُّسُلُ اُقِّتَتۡؕ‏ And when the messengers are (all) appointed a time (to collect)....

                    بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُوۡنَ‌ۚ Concerning what are they disputing? عَنِ النَّبَاِ الۡعَظِيۡمِۙ‏ Concerning the Great News, الَّذِىۡ هُمۡ فِيۡهِ مُخۡتَلِفُوۡنَؕ About which they cannot agree.  كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَۙ‏ؕ Verily, they shall soon (come to) know. ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُوۡنَ Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know. اَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ الۡاَرۡضَ مِهٰدًا ۙ Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse.   ۙ‏وَّالۡجِبَالَ اَوۡتَادًا‏ And the mountains as pegs? وَّخَلَقۡنٰكُمۡ اَزۡوَاجًا ۙ‏ And (have We not) created you in pairs.  وَّجَعَلۡنَا نَوۡمَكُمۡ سُبَاتًا ۙ‏ And made your sleep for rest. وَّجَعَلۡنَا الَّيۡلَ لِبَاسًا ۙ‏  And made the night as a covering.  ‏ وَّجَعَلۡنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا And made the day as a means of subsistence?  وَّبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعًا شِدَادًا ۙ And (ha...

                   بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. وَالنّٰزِعٰتِ غَرۡقًا ۙ‏  By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence.  وَّالنّٰشِطٰتِ نَشۡطًا ۙ‏  By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed).   وَّالسّٰبِحٰتِ سَبۡحًا ۙ‏  And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy).  فَالسّٰبِقٰتِ سَبۡقًا ۙ‏  Then press forward as in a race.  فَالۡمُدَبِّرٰتِ اَمۡرًا‌ ۘ‏  Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord).  يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ ۙ‏ One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion. تَتۡبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ ؕ Followed by oft-repeated (commotions). قُلُوۡبٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ وَّاجِفَةٌ ۙ‏  Hearts that Day will be in agitation.  اَبۡصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ‌ ۘ‏  Cast down will be (their owners') eyes. يَقُوۡلُوۡنَ ءَاِنَّا لَمَرۡدُوۡدُوۡنَ فِى الۡحَـافِرَ...

                       بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. عَبَسَ وَتَوَلّٰٓىۙ‏ٰ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away.   اَنۡ جَآءَهُ الۡاَعۡمٰىؕ‏  Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). وَمَا يُدۡرِيۡكَ لَعَلَّهٗ يَزَّكّٰٓىۙ‏  But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?  اَوۡ يَذَّكَّرُ فَتَنۡفَعَهُ الذِّكۡرٰىؕ‏  Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?   اَمَّا مَنِ اسۡتَغۡنٰىۙ‏  As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient.  فَاَنۡتَ لَهٗ تَصَدّٰىؕ‏  To him dost thou attend. وَمَا عَلَيۡكَ اَلَّا يَزَّكّٰٓىؕ‏  Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).  وَاَمَّا مَنۡ جَآءَكَ يَسۡعٰىۙ‏ But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly. وَهُوَ يَخۡشٰىۙ‏  And with fear (in his heart). فَا...

                        بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. اِذَا الشَّمۡسُ كُوِّرَتۡ When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up. وَاِذَا النُّجُوۡمُ انْكَدَرَتۡ When the stars fall, losing their lustre.  وَاِذَا الۡجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتۡ When the mountains vanish (like a mirage).  وَاِذَا الۡعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتۡ When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended.  وَاِذَا الۡوُحُوۡشُ حُشِرَتۡ When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations). وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتۡ When the oceans boil over with a swell. وَاِذَا النُّفُوۡسُ زُوِّجَتۡ When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like).  وَاِذَا الۡمَوۡءٗدَةُ سُٮِٕلَتۡ When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned. بِاَىِّ ذَنۡۢبٍ قُتِلَتۡ‌ۚ‏  For what crime she was killed.  وَاِذَا الصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتۡ When the scrolls are laid open. وَاِذَا ال...

                     بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انْفَطَرَتۡۙ‏  When the Sky is cleft asunder.  وَاِذَا الۡكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتۡۙ When the Stars are scattered.  وَاِذَا الۡبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتۡۙ When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth.  وَاِذَا الۡقُبُوۡرُ بُعۡثِرَتۡۙ‏  And when the Graves are turned upside down.  عَلِمَتۡ نَفۡسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتۡ وَاَخَّرَتۡؕ‏  (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back. يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الۡكَرِيۡمِۙ‏  O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?  الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَكَ فَسَوّٰٮكَ فَعَدَلَـكَۙ‏  Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias. فِىۡۤ اَىِّ صُوۡرَةٍ مَّا شَآءَ رَكَّبَكَؕ‏  In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together. كَلَّا بَلۡ تُكَ...

                      بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. وَيۡلٌ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِيۡنَۙ‏  Woe to those that deal in fraud. الَّذِيۡنَ اِذَا اكۡتَالُوۡا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسۡتَوۡفُوۡنَ Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure.   وَاِذَا كَالُوۡهُمۡ اَوْ وَّزَنُوۡهُمۡ يُخۡسِرُوۡنَؕ‏  But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. اَلَا يَظُنُّ اُولٰٓٮِٕكَ اَنَّهُمۡ مَّبۡعُوۡثُوۡنَۙ‏  Do they not think that they will be called to account?  لِيَوۡمٍ عَظِيۡمٍۙ‏  On a Mighty Day.  يَّوۡمَ يَقُوۡمُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الۡعٰلَمِيۡنَؕ‏  A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? كَلَّاۤ اِنَّ كِتٰبَ الۡفُجَّارِ لَفِىۡ سِجِّيۡنٍؕ‏  Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.  وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا سِجِّيۡنٌؕ‏ And what will explain to thee what ...

               بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. اِذَا السَّمَآءُ انْشَقَّتۡۙ‏  When the sky is rent asunder. وَاَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡۙ And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so).   وَاِذَا الۡاَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡؕ‏  And when the earth is flattened out.  وَاَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيۡهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡۙ‏ And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty.   وَاَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡؕ‏  And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡاِنۡسَانُ اِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ اِلٰى رَبِّكَ كَدۡحًا فَمُلٰقِيۡهِ‌ۚ‏  O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. فَاَمَّا مَنۡ اُوۡتِىَ كِتٰبَهٗ بِيَمِيۡنِهٖۙ‏  Then he who is given his Record in his right hand. فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَّسِيۡرًا ۙ‏ Soon wil...

                    بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الۡبُرُوۡجِۙ             ‏  By the sky, (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs. وَالۡيَوۡمِ الۡمَوۡعُوۡدِۙ                   ‏  By the promised Day (of Judgment);                    وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشۡهُوۡدٍؕ‏  By one that witnesses, and the subject of the witness.             قُتِلَ اَصۡحٰبُ الۡاُخۡدُوۡدِۙ‏  Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire).                   النَّارِ ذَاتِ الۡوَقُوۡدِۙ‏  Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel.                 اِذۡ هُمۡ عَلَيۡهَا قُعُوۡدٌ ۙ‏  Behold! they sat over against the (fire).       وّ...

                    بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. وَالسَّمَآءِ وَالطَّارِقِۙ                               ‏  By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein). وَمَاۤ اَدۡرٰٮكَ مَا الطَّارِقُۙ                          ‏  And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is. النَّجۡمُ الثَّاقِبُۙ                                   ‏  (It is) the Star of piercing brightness.                  اِنۡ كُلُّ نَفۡسٍ لَّمَّا عَلَيۡهَا حَافِظٌؕ‏  There is no soul but has a protector over it.  فَلۡيَنۡظُرِ الۡاِنۡسَانُ مِمَّ خُلِقَؕ                 ...

                            بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. سَبِّحِ اسۡمَ رَبِّكَ الۡاَعۡلَىۙ                 ‏  Glorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High.                         الَّذِىۡ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى Who hath created, and further, given order and proportion.                        وَالَّذِىۡ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰى Who hath ordained laws. And granted guidance.                   وَالَّذِىۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ الۡمَرۡعٰى And Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture.                      فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَآءً اَحۡوٰىؕ‏  And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble.         ...

                  بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. هَلۡ اَتٰٮكَ حَدِيۡثُ الۡغَاشِيَةِؕ                      ‏  Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?                          وُجُوۡهٌ يَّوۡمَٮِٕذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ ۙ‏  Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,                                    عَامِلَةٌ نَّاصِبَةٌ ۙ‏  Labouring (hard), weary.                              تَصۡلٰى نَارًا حَامِيَةً ۙ‏  The while they enter the Blazing Fire.                             تُسۡقٰى مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ اٰنِيَةٍؕ‏  The whil...

                      بِسۡمِ اللهِ الرَّحۡمٰنِ الرَّحِيۡمِ In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.                                             وَالۡفَجۡرِۙ‏  By the break of Day.                                         وَلَيَالٍ عَشۡرٍۙ‏  By the Nights twice five.                                    وَّالشَّفۡعِ وَالۡوَتۡرِۙ‏  By the even and odd (contrasted).                                    وَالَّيۡلِ اِذَا يَسۡرِ‌ۚ‏  And by the Night when it passeth away.                 ...
